“The act of revealing oneself fully to another and still being accepted may be the major vehicle of therapeutic help.”

Irvin D Yalom

Why therapy?

If you are looking for a therapist something in your life is causing you emotional, mental or physical pain and you probably want it to go away and feel better.

The first step is to clearly identify what your problem is and the next is to consider what goal you want to achieve - ie what would feeling ‘better’ feel like - and how might you get there.

Depending on what’s bothering you, this might mean looking at:

・how you think about things and look at yourself and the world around you

・whether how you engage in the world - your actions and behaviours - supports your goals

・how you react emotionally to others and to events and situations in your life

・if there is baggage from past experience that is weighing you down in the present, preventing you from being the person you feel you could be

Ours minds and bodies can easily get locked into habitual ways of thinking, feeling and reacting that at one time may have been beneficial but now hold us back. By becoming aware of these habits and paying attention to them we can learn to act rather than react and adopt new behaviours that serve us better.

My role is to provide a safe space, free from judgement, in which you can explore the aspects of yourself and your life that might be distressing or hindering you. This might be something you are already aware of or it might be something that you are unconscious of and that comes to light through talking and sharing.

Your role is to reflect, as much as you are able to, on those aspects of your thoughts, feelings, experience and behaviour that make you feel uncomfortable, and to share these with me as honestly as you are able to. Equally it is important to consider what is working for you and how you can build on that.

The more objective, real, non-judgemental and honest I can be with you, the more you can trust me. The more you trust me, the deeper we can go and the more significant the impact on your well-being is likely to be. It’s a simple and as profound as that! But don’t worry if it sounds easier said than done, it’s a step-by-step process and we can give it as much time as it needs.

Depending on what you want to explore and what you want to achieve the process might take only a few sessions but there is no upper limit on how many sessions you can have. You can also have weekly sessions or opt to have them every-other week or even monthly.

Each session lasts 50 minutes and can either be face-to-face, online or over the phone. Whichever option you choose confidentiality is assured.

A session costs €55/£50.
